Congratulations to the seven sixth graders who tackled the Google Earth Contest successfully! The contest required that students use Google Earth to be assigned a random location through Google Earth’s “I’m feeling lucky!” search feature. Students were randomly assigned locations such as Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Maryland, Ishizuchi Shrine in Japan, and Maricao Ton in Puerto Rico. Then, based on the assigned location, students needed to answer a series of questions about geography, math, science, social studies, language arts, and current events. Students needed to use their knowledge of Google Earth, the SOL-approved version of the Desmos scientific calculator, and their internet search savvy to complete the assignment before turning it in to Ms. Dushok through Schoology.
