Teacher preparation programs around the country include an internship component, where education students join classrooms for a portion of the school year to learn from a practicing teacher. We have partnered with multiple universities for years, and our full-time staff includes numerous former interns. This year we are once again happy to have a fabulous "class" of interns at various grade levels working with Westlawn students and learning from amazing mentor teachers. Here are our current interns:

Ms. Boyle

Ms. Boyle is joining the Westlawn team as an intern in Ms. Rezcallah’s third grade classroom.

What excites you most about joining the Westlawn community?

I am most excited to get to know the students and staff of Westlawn and discover how they work together.

Tell us a little more about yourself!

Hello, my name is Ms. Boyle! I am from a very small town (population 2,000) in the desert of Southern Utah. I have two dogs named Bruno and Gus and ten chickens, though we've only named one of them so far. Her name is Poppy. I love hiking, roller blading, exploring new places, and spending time with my family. It has been a long time dream to live here and I am so excited to be teaching at Westlawn Elementary!

Hi! My name is Lupita Jones and I am a rising senior at George Mason University. My husband and I have been together for 10 years. We have two boys--Roman will be starting kindergarten and Nicholas will be going into third grade. We have one dog, Weston, a schnauzer-Labrador mix who just turned five. When I have some free time, I enjoy baking, working on word searches and spending time with my family. Some of my favorites include vanilla ice cream, Payday candy bars and Reese's Cups, the colors black and purple, Thanksgiving, sudoku, word searches, cheese pizza, and motivational books.

I am a current undergrad at GMU about to start my senior year! I have lived in Northern Virginia for about 9 years now. I love to travel all around, and my favorite place so far I have traveled to was St. Martin because I was able to go scuba diving with sharks! I love to spend my free time outside exploring new walking trails. I am also a huge Caps fan!
