Mrs. Joann Chae is joining the Westlawn team as a special education teacher. You might recognize her already because she has previously been at Westlawn as a kindergarten IA and as Mr. Stuebner’s “hands in the classroom” when he taught virtually during COVID.

What excites you most about rejoining the Westlawn community?

I’m excited about joining the Westlawn community again because even when I left, no one made me feel as if I was not a part of the community anymore. It shows me that this community values friendships, working relationships, and will work towards taking the time to build each other up when there are challenges. I’m excited to return to this community because it makes me want to be better and help others find the best version of themselves too. 

Tell us a little more about yourself!

I’m a product of FCPS and currently pursuing my second masters degree at George Mason. I love bossing my family members around and planning family adventures.  I love to travel and my favorite dish is spicy braised octopus and tofu. I love a good beat to dance to and enjoy puzzles and arts and crafts.
