 Virtual Museum Visits

Explore African Art at the Palmer Museum of Art

Learn about different artworks from Africa and a few of the many cultures that made them. I really liked this museum virtual tour because it also includes some great art projects and coloring pages.

National Gallery of Art Videos

Take a closer look at individual pieces in the National Gallery of Art. This collection of videos has been curated for kids and includes a closer look at many of the gallery's more famous paintings. Each video is 2-3 minutes long.

An Eye for Art - PDF Zines

Explore individual artists who have work up at the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art. Each one includes some background on the artist and an activity! Recommended for grades 4 and up or read with an adult (due to reading level, not content).

British Museum, London

Look at the Rosetta stone and Egyptian mummies.

National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.

View two different virtual collections. The first is an exhibit of American fashion from 1740 to 1895, including many drawings of clothes from the colonial and Revolutionary eras. The second is a collection of works from Dutch painter  Vermeer.

Musée d’Orsay, Paris

In this museum's collections you can see many famous artworks from Monet, Cézanne, and Gauguin, among others.

The Louvre

This is probably the most famous museum in the world. The Mona Lisa is displayed here.

National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul

This is one of Korea’s popular museums full of really colorful Contemporary art

Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

There are a lot of famous paintings from Vermeer and Rembrandt here. You can use Google Street View so you can feel as if you’re actually walking around the rooms and halls.

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

Anyone who is a fan of this tragic, ingenious painter can see his works up close (or, almost up close) by virtually visiting this museum – the largest collection of artworks by Vincent van Gogh, including over 200 paintings, 500 drawings, and over 750 personal letters.

The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles

The collections here include European artworks from as far back as the 8th Century. Check out the exhibit called fantastic beasts of the middle ages!

Uffizi Gallery, Florence

This less well-known gallery houses the art collection of one of Florence, Italy’s most famous families, the de'Medicis. The building was designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 specifically for Cosimo I de'Medici, but anyone can wander its halls from anywhere in the world.

MASP, São Paulo

This collection is Brazil's first art museum. Take a look in the portrait gallery at the cool way that they display the paintings in the middle of the room, not on the walls.
